A Travel Guide to Gran Alacant
Located between Alicante and Santa Pola on the Southern Costa Blanca, Spain is the vibrant area of Gran Alacant. This exciting community is popular for its outstanding beaches, a superb commercial centre and picturesque location.
Gran Alacant sits on top of cliffs, offering a breathtaking view over the Mediterranean. This area is an ideal family destination as it is very child friendly with a number of playgrounds and play areas together with cycle and walking paths. The fine white sand beaches below the cliffs are ideal for children.
A great way to explore the area and generally to get around is to use the tourist train, whilst not strictly a train as it runs on the road, it covers the whole Gran Alacant area including the beaches, shops and restaurants.
Gran Alacant has a good selection of supermarkets, restaurants and bars, it has its own market on a Thursday and other excellent markets can be found nearby at Torrevieja and Santa Pola.
The blue flag Carabassi Beach is the most popular beach in Gran Alacant with its large expanse of golden sand, sand dunes and walkways.
Whilst the Gran Alacant area is relaxing and peaceful there is plenty of nightlife nearby at Torrevieja, Alicante and Benidorm
