A Travel Guide to Florida
Florida is the most south easterly of the US states and is a large and diverse region with many things to see and do. Orlando is known for the Disney World resort but Florida offers more than this, with great cities like Miami and Destin and great natural attractions like the Everglades, with its range of unique and beautiful wildlife.
Florida is best known for its many fantastic theme parks. Bush Gardens in Tampa Bay is a fine example of this. The park combines animal attractions such as tigers, alligators, lions and cheetahs. Several of the animals can be viewed from behind glass partitions, allowing visitors to get closer to the animals than in any other zoo. The park also offers various shows and rides to enjoy.
Of course the most widely known attractions in Florida are those of the Disney World resort in Orlando. Though Orlando is also home to other parks too, Universal Studios offers various attractions including a new Harry Potter theme park. There is also a SeaWorld in Orlando, known for its sea lion and killer whale shows, it is a must see attraction in Orlando.
The Florida Keys are a chain of small islands just off the south coast of Florida. The Keys are very popular with sport fisherman looking to land a big Sailfish particularly the Islamorada islands. The lower keys and the Big Pine Key are quieter and more relaxed than many of Florida’s other tourist attractions; there are plenty of great underwater sights for those who go snorkelling or diving.
The Everglades National Park is perfect for those who love nature and wildlife. The park is a large sub-tropical wilderness, teaming with wildlife and with several species unique to Florida, including the rare Florida Panther. The Everglades are most known for the population of alligators but there are also American Crocodiles within the park. One other notable inhabitant is the Bald Eagle, the state bird and symbol of the United States.
There is a wide variety of self catering holiday accommodation in Florida ranging from villas and apartments to rent in Orlando to beach side holiday homes on the Gulf Coast, the Panhanle, the East Coast or the Florida Keys.
